They could be dismissed as a nuisance, a loose network of individuals living in the United States who call themselves “sovereign citizens” and believe that federal, state, and local governments operate illegally. Some of their actions, although quirky, are not crimes. The offenses they do commit seem minor: They do not pay their taxes and regularly create false license plates, driver’s licenses, and even currency.

Who are "sovereign citizens"?

Anti-government U.S. extremists who don't pay taxes and ignore requirements like social security cards and drivers licenses are on the rise. Called sovereign citizens, some have become violent and the FBI considers them a domestic terror threat. Byron Pitts reports.

FBI has established "The Sovereign Citizen Movement" as domestic terrorists, exactly the way was done under Clinton 16 years ago.

Mississippi County Supervisor submits "Affidavit of Truth" to courthouse, declares herself sovereign and exempt from any local, state, or federal jurisdiction. This story is what happens when violence responds to violence. I find this quote disturbing, "Members of so-called patriot groups don't recognize the authority of the U.S. government and consider themselves sovereign citizens."

Will those proclaiming sovereignty as individuals be seen through the a slanted media lens as inherently violent?

The law enforcement agency said followers of The Sovereign Citizens Movement have been known to carry out violent acts, including killing law enforcement officers and other public servants.

To think, before she portrayed people who considered themselves to be Sovereign citizens as being nothing but a bunch of stoned, cross eyed Charles Mansons with dreadlocks, I wanted to make her my future baby's momma. Now she's gone & ruined it. >=(

"Sovereign Citizens" in the cross-hairs... CNN reports, Southern Poverty Law Center and CNN host banter back and forth at... gasp... people not getting drivers licenses... appropriating foreclosures...

Sovereign citizens getting put on lists.
Opposing taxation, supporting the gold-standard, and opposing regulations makes you an "extremist" according to the FBI.
