CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- The family of an Illinois National Guard soldier said Friday that he's been charged with possession of child pornography in Afghanistan over innocent snapshots of a 4-year-old relative in a swimsuit.

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan (AP) — An Afghan man recounted Monday the harrowing tale of how an American soldier on a killing spree burst into his home in the middle of the night, searched the rooms, then dropped to a knee and shot his father in the thigh as he emerged from a bedroom.
The staff sergeant is now in custody, accused of killing 16 Afghan civilians, most of them children, and then burning many of the bodies. The name of the 38-year-old soldier was not released because it would be "inappropriate" to do so before charges are filed, said Pentagon spokesman George Little.

Now, the evidence given is indirect (hearsay, really,) and I don't subscribe to this man's Youtube channel. Still, this seems disturbing enough to keep an eye on. Hopefully the name of the arrested soldier will eventually come out.

Everyday thousands of items are confiscated by the TSA at airports for "public safety". Now it turns out that these items are being recycled as a means for revenue generation for states. Thats right taxpayers pay bureacrats to confiscate their nail clippers so that they can sell it back to them...or more accurately sell it to street vendors who then sell it back to them.

US soldiers were asked to disarm during a speech by Leon Panetta, the American defence secretary, in a sign of grown concern over spates of seemingly random violence in Afghanistan. Around 200 troops who had gathered in a tent at Camp Leatherneck were told "something had come to light" and asked abruptly to file outside and lay down their automatic rifles and 9mm pistols.
