A state bill aiming to give residents limited rights to resist police officers who enter their homes illegally was passed by the Indiana House of Representatives on Thursday with several amendments.
The bill is a direct response to the Indiana Supreme Court decision in Barnes v. State of Indiana.
The state’s highest court ruled that a citizen never has the right to resist an officer in pursuit of an investigation. But state lawmakers disagree.

In a 3–2 decision, the court has ruled that Indiana residents have no right to obstruct unlawful police incursions into their homes.

Officer Salvatore Riveri, the Baltimore City police officer seen in a You Tube video berating a teenage skateboarder at the Inner Harbor, has been fired.

Police department spokesman Anthony Guglielmi told WBAL News that Rivieri has been "separated from the department," but he could not comment further because this is a personnel matter.

SALISBURY - Two East Spencer firefighters and a police officer were found not guilty in court on Tuesday in an alleged case of a taser attack on a teenage firefighter at a firehouse Christmas party...

The drive stun, which is held to a person's skin, was used at least nine times on 18-year-old John Resino, a student at North Rowan High School in Salisbury. Resino is a East Spencer volunteer fireman, according to the Sheriff's report.

The incident, which led to an arm injury requiring 22 stitches, was the climax of a bizarre sequence of events that began when the couple's neighbor, Tamara Denise White­side, phoned in a false report accusing Travis Prespentt of pistol-whipping and strangling his wife and dumping her in the back of his car.

Now Whiteside is in jail, Brandie Prespentt is alive and well, and the Prespentts are threatening to sue the constable's office for what they call an unprovoked attack.
