Rep. Bill Zedler has filed a bill to require employees at sexually oriented businesses to get a license and display it while working. The conservative lawmaker said he hopes the measure, if it passes, might encourage women to find another line of work. "They won't want to get a license as a stripper from the state of Texas," Zedler said of his legislation. "I think it would keep a lot of girls from getting involved in that lifestyle and basically wrecking their lives. "This will force everyone to clean up their act," he said. "Overall, it will be a benefit to everyone concerned."

FTA: Under the bill, school districts would report the number of students who aren't attending class or who have more than 10 absences to the Department of Motor Vehicles. Teenagers who can prove they work to support their family, or are 17 and joined the military, are exempt. For underage students who can't prove an exemption, a letter is mailed informing the teen his or her license is suspended.

When all else fails, nothing snaps teenagers into shape faster than threatening to take away their driver’s licenses. At least that’s what legislators in South Carolina are banking on.

The Charlotte Observer reports that state lawmakers are on the verge of “fast-tracking” a bill that would take away the driver’s licenses of any teenager 18 and younger who failed to graduate or just missed too many days of class.

Several Volusia County Sheriff's deputies were called out to Timbercrest Elementary School Tuesday morning after a school official noticed a student was holding what seemed to be a $1 million bill.School administrators said the bill looked very real and were concerned it might be in circulation.However, $1 million bills are not in print or circulation.

CLEARWATER, Fla. - The new law that requires proof of citizenship to get or renew your driver's license is an inconvenience to some of us, but one man in Pinellas County says it's a violation of his rights.
Adrian Wyllie, radio talk show host and chairman of the Libertarian Party of Florida refuses to provide the paperwork necessary to renew his expired license. He also refuses to stop driving.
"I believe I am in the position of right and the state needs to be correcte,d" said Wyllie.

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Six Republican members of the Oregon House have introduced a bill that would put an American flag in every public classroom and give students an opportunity to read or recite the Pledge of Allegiance each school day.

Currently, Oregon public schools are only required to have an American and Oregon flag near the school building. Schools are also required to give students a chance to salute the flag, but only once a week.

But House Bill 3014, which was introduced Thursday, would change that if passed. Six of the 26 Republicans in the Oregon House are sponsoring the bill.

Implanting the chips on license plates would enable real-time monitoring of all vehicles by positioning tracking stations at key points throughout the state. The main interest behind the bill is to generate automated ticket for drivers whose vehicle registration, emissions or insurance certification may have lapsed for a day or two

DPS Director Steven McCraw wants more license plate readers to track stolen vehicles to make the roadways safe against drug cartels smuggling drugs in stolen cars. McCraw also asked senators to consider a state law to allow driver's license or insurance checkpoints, an unpopular idea in past legislative sessions.
