A man who said he killed a US abortion doctor in Kansas to save the lives of unborn babies has been found guilty of first-degree murder.

(Note: I'm a pro-choice libertarian; I submit this article for two reasons. First, because I support abortion rights; pro-life libertarianism is based on a superficial understanding of the NAP. Second, the convicted murderer initiated force against the doctor; the doctor had not physically assaulted him, yet the man killed the doctor.)

Frank Szabo said that as sheriff, he would arrest any doctor performing elective or late-term abortions in his jurisdiction.

But Szabo may have inflamed the issue further when asked if he would use deadly force to prevent an abortion.

"I would respond specifically by saying that if someone is under threat, a full-grown human being, if they're under threat, what should the sheriff do? Everything in their power to prevent them from being harmed," he said.

The authors argue that “both fetuses and newborns do not have the same moral status as actual persons,” and that because abortion is allowed even when there is no problem with the fetus’ health, “killing a newborn should be permissible in all the cases where abortion is, including cases where the newborn is not disabled.”

A Philadelphia monsignor tasked with investigating abuse claims has become the highest-ranking US church official to be convicted of covering up child sex allegations. Monsignor William Lynn, who was secretary of the archdiocese from 1994 to 2001, was found guilty on Friday of one count of endangering the welfare of a child. The jury acquitted Lynn, who oversaw hundreds of priests in the Philadelphia Archdiocese, on counts of conspiracy and another charge of child endangerment. Sentencing for Lynn, who faces up to seven years in prison, was set for August 13 by Judge M Teresa Sarmina.

Jorge Videla, the former president of Argentina, has been sentenced to 50 years for systematically stealing the babies of prisoners. Thursday's verdict finds Videla, 86, guilty of kidnapping hundreds of babies from leftist activists detained and killed between 1976-1983. "We have presented evidence showing that the kidnappers plotted to steal the children born to women in captivity," Estela de Carlotto, president of the Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo, told the AFP news agency.

"[M]ore than half the babies from mother rats fed GM soy died within three weeks. This was also five times higher than the 10% death rate of the non-GMO soy group. The babies in the GM group were also smaller (see photo) and could not reproduce.
"In a telling coincidence, after Ermakova's feeding trials, her laboratory started feeding all the rats in the facility a commercial rat chow using GM soy. Within two months, the infant mortality facility-wide reached 55%."

A North Carolina doctor could lose his medical license after a patient complained he made cutting criticisms, including telling her she was fat. The News & Observer of Raleigh reported the North Carolina Medical Board will decide if Dr. Earl Sunderhaus of Asheville overstepped the bounds of professional decency.

The eye doctor's patient complained Sunderhaus poked her thigh and told her she is fat, and also scolded her as irresponsible for being unemployed and relying on taxpayers to pay for another pregnancy.

In 2005, seven-months pregnant Melanie Williams was chased by police into the St. Vincent's Medical Center emergency room, where she was tackled, handcuffed, and dragged back outside... because she had run a red light while on her way there under doctor's orders.

A panel of the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta said the officers used reasonable force, so Williams can sue only for unlawful arrest.
