Ugly details emerged Friday from the standoff involving a gay man who was forced to leave his sick husband’s bedside by hospital staff and police. According to Think Progress, Roger Gorley was ignored by hospital staff, then beaten by police as he desperately clung to the rail of his partner Allen Mansell’s bed. After he’d been bloodied and subdued, Gorley was accused of having AIDS by one officer, who refused to touch him without gloves and insisted that his handcuffs be thrown away after they were used on Gorley.

Recently a 16 year old was killed in the Bronx by police officers in plain clothes. Witnesses swear that the man had no gun. People take to the streets in protest. Police officers challenge stop and frisk laws. "Roughly 4.4 million people have been stopped by the NYPD during the joint tenure of Police Commissioner Ray Kelly and Mayor Michael Bloomberg, according to official government data. Nearly nine out of ten have been released without an arrest or summons. About 86 percent of those stopped have been black or Latino. "

But city lawyers are arguing that the police had no legal duty to protect Joseph Lozito, the Long Island dad stabbed seven times trying to subdue madman Maksim Gelman — a courtroom maneuver the subway hero calls “disgraceful.” A judge is currently deciding whether Lozito, who sued the city last year for failing to prevent the attack, will get his day in court.

A number of people are outraged about a police shooting in Sandusky. An officer shot and killed a dog he says he felt threatened by, but the owner says the videotape tells a different story. The whole thing was caught on dashcam. The police say the shooting was a matter of safety, but the owners argue the dog was not a serious threat and that there were other options.

"We were just sitting there laughing and out of nowhere, I saw two guys grab Ferd," says Newman. "All of a sudden, I'm on the wall. A whole bunch of people just came up and threw me up against the wall," says Hunt. Those people were plain clothes law enforcement officers, nine of them State Troopers and one NOPD officer. The two young men were taken down to the ground. Hunt's mother does approach and the two young men are allowed to get up. Not long after releasing the two men, the plain clothes officers simply walked away.
