Minutemen enter border home and shoot 9yr old girl in head

http://crooksandliars.com

They convinced Flores to let them in by claiming to be law-enforcement officers seeking fugitives, then shot him point-blank in the head when he questioned them and wounded his wife, Gina Gonzalez. And then, while she pleaded for her life, they shot Brisenia in cold blood in the head. (Her sister, fortunately, was sleeping over at a friend's.)

iPhone app helps users avoid parking tickets

http://www.vancouversun.com

Massive parking fines inspired one Australian man to create an iPhone app that lets users warn each other when parking officers are spotted lurking near their cars. Last year alone, he paid thousands of dollars in fines. The final straw came when he was ticketed in his own neighbourhood despite a parking permit that he pays hundreds of dollars for each year. The app lets users "sign in" and report sightings of parking officers with a single push of a button. Cartoon faces wearing a police cap then appear plotted on a map of the area, along with a notice thanking them.

Florida Lawmaker proposes grading parents along with students

http://www.abcactionnews.com

A Florida state lawmaker is sponsoring a bill that would require teachers to give parents in Florida a grade for how involved they are with their child's education. Schools can only do so much. "We hold teachers accountable, we're holding students accountable, we're holding administrators accountable."
K-12 parents would be assessed, but only Kindergarten through 3rd grade would receive a satisfactory, unsatisfactory, or needs improvement grade.

Tucson Shooting Suspect Was Known to Use Hallucinogen Salvia

http://www.nytimes.com

It remains unclear what, if any, role salvia played in shaping Mr. Loughner's views. But the shootings have once again drawn attention to a drug that - for little more than the cost of a pack of cigarettes and without the hassle of showing a driver's license - a growing number of young people here and throughout much of the country are legally buying and using.

http://www.datelinezero.com

Chinemerem Eze, a Nigerian student at Brooklyn College, complained to her college about secret surveillance in December 2008, according to a lawsuit she’s filed in New York Supreme Court. Yes, there was indeed a camera in her bedroom.

She’s suing the security officers, psychologist, and the government-managed school for negligence. She’s already settled with the government-managed hospital.

Nice racket the State has going here, though. Hope her lawsuit goes well.

http://news.yahoo.com

From the article: "Acetaminophen is the leading cause of liver failure in the U.S. and sends 56,000 people to the emergency room annually. About 200 of them die, and the FDA estimates 120 of those deaths are linked to prescription drugs with acetaminophen."

Imagine if cannabis was HALF as dangerous as this stuff anyone can buy without a prescription.

http://dfw.cbslocal.com

Court has become a deterrent instead of detention for some North Texas students.

The social and economic group Texas Appleseed collected five years worth of data from 22 districts across the state and found young students, including a six year old in Dallas, who received class C misdemeanor tickets for things like disrupting class, leaving school early and school yard brawls that didn’t include weapons.

Jury pool in marijuana case stages ‘mutiny’

http://www.billingsgazette.com

A funny thing happened on the way to a trial in Missoula County District Court last week.

Jurors – well, potential jurors – staged a revolt.

They took the law into their own hands, as it were, and made it clear they weren’t about to convict anybody for having a couple of buds of marijuana. Never mind that the defendant in question also faced a felony charge of criminal distribution of dangerous drugs.
