Massachusetts department of transportation handed out about 900 speeding tickets on a newly created stretch of road. The issue is that they did not follow their own laws around setting speed limits and enforcing them.

They have publicly admitted to the tickets being illegal and unenforceable, but when asked about possible refunds, they basically told the media that you would have to take them to court if you want your money back.

Assemblywoman Mary Hayashi was arrested at a Neiman Marcus store after she walked out the doors with unpaid merchandise, and accused of stealing nearly $2,500 worth of clothing. The judge reduced a theft charge against her from a felony to a misdemeanor at a prosecutor’s request. (Her husband is a judge, too.) Her attorney said she was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor that contributed to the shoplifting incident.
"It's no longer affecting... her judgment", but her condition "can lead to some absentmindedness." Hayashi has no plans to resign from office.

Michael Bowers has been one one of the heroes to shed light on the bite mark matching fraud. He has personally exposed a number of quacks, and contributed to the National Academy of Sciences report that found no scientific basis for the idea that bite marks on human skin can be definitively matched to one person, to the exclusion of everyone else.
