FBI fears Bitcoin’s popularity with criminals | Ars Technica

http://arstechnica.com

The FBI sees the anonymous Bitcoin payment network as an alarming haven for money laundering and other criminal activity—including as a tool for hackers to rip off fellow Bitcoin users.

Thousands of pills filled with baby flesh discovered by customs

http://www.dailymail.co.uk

Thousands of pills filled with powdered human flesh have been discovered by customs officials in South Korea, it was revealed today.

The capsules are in demand because they are viewed as being a medicinal 'cure-all'.

The grim trade is being run from China where corrupt medical staff are said to be tipping off medical companies when babies are aborted or delivered still-born.
Hospitals and abortion clinics in China reportedly pass the remains onto drugs companies when a baby is stillborn or aborted, the South Korean SBS documentary team reported last year.

Why Black Market Entrepreneurs Matter to the World Economy

http://www.wired.com

If all the world’s informal markets were formed into a single independent nation, its $10 trillion economy would be the second-largest on the planet (behind only the US). These markets thrive in places where taxes are low, poverty is high, and resources are scarce. The colors on this map indicate the size of each country’s underground economy, as a percentage of its GDP

http://silverunderground.com

While poking around for Rebels on Facebook I came across this group that is promoting an idea so awesome I had to spread the word. The group is called Rebel Road and they’re hosting a public event they’re calling a Free Market Flash Mob. They invite everyone to bring whatever they have to sell or trade to Balboa Park in San Diego. They boast “No Permission! No Permits! The parks are ours and we have the right to self-sustain by utilizing them how we see fit, when we see fit.”

The Icelandic Free State

http://www.lewrockwell.com

The fact that the provision of "governmental" services was a competitive rather than a monopolistic enterprise was arguably one of the Free State’s greatest strengths; just as in any other market, the competitive discipline imposed by the fear of losing clients to rival service providers served as a check on inefficiency and abuse of power. Icelandic law owed its resilience and flexibility to this decoupling of authority from geography.

Requiem For A Penny: Canada Kills The Cent, Will USA Follow?

http://www.ctv.ca

It's the end of the line for Canada's humble penny. The government has decided the lowest denomination coin is more trouble than it's worth, so the Royal Canadian Mint will stop distributing the penny this fall. "It costs taxpayers a penny-and-a-half every time we make one. We will, therefore, stop making them.", said Finance Minister Jim Flaherty.

Unanimous: Obama Budget Defeated 414-0

In a rare instance of bipartisanship, President Barack Obama's reckless $3.6 trillion budget for next year was defeated 414-0 late last night on the House Floor.

Republicans said Democrats were afraid to vote for Obama's proposed tax increases and extra spending for energy and welfare. Democrats said Republicans had forced a vote on a version of Obama's budget that contained only its numbers, not the policies he would use to achieve them.

Moody's: Greece Has Defaulted

http://digg.com

Moody's Investors Service considers Greece to have defaulted per its default definitions. The announcement comes despite Athens reaching a deal with private creditors for a bond exchange that will shave €107 billion from its €350 billion debt. The agency pointed out that even though 85.8% of the holders of Greek-law bonds had signed to the deal, the exercise of collective action clauses that Athens is applying to its bonds will force the remaining bondholders to participate.

New and Improved! Inflation-free Inflation from the Federal Reserve

https://secure.marketwatch.com

Federal Reserve officials are considering a new type of quantitative easing that will allegedly attempt to boost the economy without accelerating inflation. Under the new approach, the Fed would print new money to buy long-term mortgage or Treasury bonds but effectively tie up that money by borrowing it back for short periods at low rates. And if you believe that will work, I've got a bridge to nowhere I think you'll be very interested in purchasing...
