"I'm going to beat you into submission," the 'honorable' William Adams shouted at his disabled daughter as she attempted to deflect his swings with a leather belt. To his daughter Hillary, this was routine. Suspecting it was wrong, she set up a camera and recorded the 7-minute beating she received from both her parents. PINELLAS PARK — One day last September, Danielle Maudsley, clad in handcuffs, bolted out the door of a Florida Highway Patrol substation after she had been arrested in a hit-and-run case.

A dashboard video camera in a patrol cruiser in the parking lot captured Trooper Daniel Cole chasing her. Cole was only a few feet behind her when he pulled out his Taser and fired its electric probes into her back.

Maudsley spun, fell backward and smacked her head on the asphalt parking lot. She lay there, bleeding and crying as Cole stood over her. Then she went unconscious.

Lynwood Artis was sentenced to 30 days in jail for being the victim of what can only be described as a bizarre display of state power. Mr. Artis was enjoying a taco (probably without a permit) when he was questioned by police officer about a nearby unattended beer. When the cop didn't find Mr. Artis' answer satisfactory, he broke the man's leg and arrested him. After a mere 4 minutes in court, Mr. Artis found himself on his way to jail for "contempt of court" (ie: not standing on his broken leg).
