Out of all of the cities with Occupy movements, the cost per arrest in Phoenix was the highest - taxpayers spent $4,430 per. Massachusetts department of transportation handed out about 900 speeding tickets on a newly created stretch of road. The issue is that they did not follow their own laws around setting speed limits and enforcing them.
They have publicly admitted to the tickets being illegal and unenforceable, but when asked about possible refunds, they basically told the media that you would have to take them to court if you want your money back.
the illegality is due to the the state not performing an engineering study to determine the maximum safe speed for the stretch of road.

Read more »Assemblywoman Mary Hayashi was arrested at a Neiman Marcus store after she walked out the doors with unpaid merchandise, and accused of stealing nearly $2,500 worth of clothing. The judge reduced a theft charge against her from a felony to a misdemeanor at a prosecutor’s request. (Her husband is a judge, too.) Her attorney said she was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor that contributed to the shoplifting incident.
"It's no longer affecting... her judgment", but her condition "can lead to some absentmindedness." Hayashi has no plans to resign from office.

Luis Vega is on a mission to meet every man born in Madrid, Spain on Nov. 20, 1977. That's the day doctors told him that his baby son was stillborn, but he and his wife, Ines, believe their child was in fact stolen from the hospital.
“We have a son somewhere out there,” Luis Vega said.
