Police State Shuts Down Concert

http://www.freep.com

Insane Clown Posse and its fans might feel as if they’re in the cross-hairs once again.
At the urging of Royal Oak police, the Detroit rap group’s scheduled Oct. 31 concert has been canceled by the Royal Oak Music Theater. “The cancellation of the show by the Royal Oak Music Theatre is further evidence that the Juggalos are being harmed by the FBI’s designation of Juggalos as a gang,” said attorney Howard Hertz

President Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney sparred last night in their second of three debates. Today, in a two-hour special, we expand the debate by including the voices of three presidential candidates shut out of the official debate. We are joined by Jill Stein of the Green Party, Constitution Party nominee Virgil Goode, and Justice Party candidate Rocky Anderson. Fiat Currency and the Emerging Police State

http://dollarcollapse.com

“Fiat” is money with no intrinsic value beyond whatever an issuing government is able to enforce. When it enjoys a monopoly as currency, fiat inevitably turns the free market functions of money inside out. Instead of being a store of value, the currency becomes a point of plunder through monetary policies such as quantitative easing. Instead of greasing society as a medium of exchange, the currency acts as a powerful tool of social control.

VCU violence

http://wtvr.com

Last night Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) had a town hall meeting to talk about the rash of violent crime that has been happening there recently. VCDL and the press were there. Taliban Shoots 14-Year Old Girl For Blogging

http://www.cnn.com

Malala was riding home in a school van Tuesday in the tense and Taliban-heavy Swat Valley when gunmen jumped into the vehicle and demanded to know which girl she was. Her horrified classmates pointed to her, and the men fired. Two other girls were wounded, but not seriously. Malala gained fame for blogging about how girls should have rights in Pakistan, including the right to learn. She spoke out in a region of the country where support for Islamic fundamentalism runs high.

John Gurdon, Nobel Prize Winner, Wasn't The Best Science Student

http://www.huffingtonpost.com

Teacher knows best? That doesn't appear to be the case for one teacher who called a future Nobel Prize winner's dreams of becoming a scientist "quite ridiculous" in a scathing report card. John Gurdon's future success was almost nipped in the bud in 1949 when a schoolmaster at elite Eton College wrote on his report card that pursuing science would be a waste of time.

At Least They Didn't Kill the Dog This Time....

http://freedominourtime.blogspot.com

“Why are you dragging me out of my home?” asked the terrified woman. “Why would you be pulling me out of my home?”
“Open the door,” insisted the assailant, using his weight advantage and leverage to extract the woman, who had braced herself against one side of the door while clinging desperately to the other with her right hand. As she lost her grip, the left side of Marcella’s body scraped painfully against the door frame before she was thrown to the ground.

Paleo Diet Lawsuit Dismissed By Court in Blow to Free Expression

http://reason.com

Bad news in an important Institute for Justice-launched lawsuit defending the right of free speech on the Internet about matters of diet and nutrition. A state licensing board in North Carolina tried to suppress a blogger who talked up and advised people on the health benefits of the "paleo" diet (that is, eating as we think cavement ate, no grains or processed foods), telling him directly what he could or could not say about his belief that the high-meat, low-carb diet helped him with his diabetes. The case was dismissed by a federal court late last week.

We Fund Dependency

http://www.realclearpolitics.com

"There are no jobs!" That is what people told me outside a government "jobs center" in New York City. But, 4 researchers quickly found 40 job openings. So what goes on at these government "job centers?" I asked a college intern, to find out. Her conclusions:
--It's easier to get welfare than to work.
--The government would rather sign me up for welfare than help me find work.
--America has taxpayer-funded bureaucracies that encourage people to be dependent. They incentivize people to take "free stuff," not to take initiative.

Police execute drug raid at wrong Utah home

http://hosted.ap.org

Salt Lake City Police Chief Chris Burbank has issued an apology after narcotics detectives raided the wrong home and pointed a gun at its 76-year-old female resident. Burbank said the woman was not injured when the search warrant was executed late Wednesday night, but one officer was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation. "She's certainly had the event of a lifetime, and one that I am very sorry that she had to experience at all," Burbank said.
