NYC change parking rules then tickets parked cars $115

In NYC, an arbitrary stretch of road which previously allowed parking, was suddenly changed to no standing any time. After the change, within 25 minutes, parking enforcement arrived and began issuing $115 parking tickets. When confronted about the sudden rule change and the fact that people did not have time to move, none of them seemed to care.

Furthermore, the official response basically told the owners of those cars that if they didn't like the ticket then they can fight it in court.

Trooper fired for offering Florida lawmaker break on speeding ticket.

In a rarity among modern American jurisprudence, a state highway trooper has lost his job over a traffic ticket he didn't write — and now his fight has sparked a wider dispute over who gets preferential treatment for enforcing the law on the road. Does anyone need to guess that this happened in Florida?

Get Out of Jail Free Cards for Cops Famlies - "Professional Courtesy"

This helps illustrate something most of us already know. Cops give other Cops something they call "Professional Courtesy." This means that one cop will give another a pass whenever their power of discretion allows it (and possibly when is does not). Also, if you are familiar with the generic cop mindset, the world is generally divided into 2 groups- cops and their families, and everyone else.

LAPD cops sue over speeding ticket quotas

I KNEW it! Proof that at least one police department has quotas for speeding tickets. They were even taken off normal patrols to issue moving violations. This story says they were supposed to write 18 tickets a day. Several cops are sueing LAPD for this as quotas are illegal.

Darbe Pitofsky, 83, said she was on her way for a cup of coffee around 6:30 a.m. on June 25 when she threw a brown bag filled with old papers in a city litter basket... She said a sanitation worker quickly jumped out of his vehicle and demanded her information to write a summons... She said the worker demanded a form of identification and threatened to “put her away” if she didn’t comply.
