The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reported that Chancery Judge Talmadge Littlejohn told a court audience to rise and say the pledge. In my first period class every morning over the intercom a voice says "Now, Booker High students please stand for the pledge." Well my friend and I sat, and didn't say anything. We believe the pledge is a waste of time and we have a right not to stand because of our beliefs. My teacher saw us and told us to stand, but we refused. So he pulled my friend and I out of class and scolded us "Now, I don't care what you believe in!! It's school policy to stand! SO STAND."
