I am searching this car. There are no ifs, ands or buts about it.

"I am not asking your permission. I know there's marijuana in this car." Nearly a half-hour into the traffic stop, after Fornal had already searched the car, a Venice police officer arrived with her dog. She and the animal searched the car, including the trunk, but found nothing. Fornal then searched McNeal at the roadside, patting him down and ordering him to remove his shoes and turn his socks inside out. Fornal's supervisor, Maj. Kevin Kenney, described that search as "going a little too far," though overall, he stands by the deputy's actions that night.

A judge’s ruling Wednesday on a request to authorize a class action lawsuit over the New York Police Department’s (NYPD) use of “stop-and-frisk” searches could see more than 1 million people line up to file claims against the department for violating their constitutional rights.

5 Reasons You Should Never Agree to a Police Search

Do you know what your rights are when a police officer asks to search you? If you're like most people I've met in my eight years working to educate the public on this topic, then you probably don't.

School Wants To Allow Bus Drivers To Search Students

A western Indiana school district wants to give its bus drivers the authority to search students for weapons or drugs.

The Tribune-Star reported that a Vigo County School Corp. proposal would allow the drivers to search a student and the student's belongings if there is an immediate threat of harm or danger to those on the bus.

Can't touch this! Cops outraged at pot ruling.

This story comes via a "social media site for cops." The comments section is a trove of material for discussion. As I read through the posts, I couldn't help replaying in my mind how many times these cops say, "I'm just enforcing the law..." These comments give insight to how they really feel. You can see this in what some of them say about judges and their children as well as the law and how they believe it should be applied.

This is the second case of someone getting the death penalty from information gained from social networking sites. Would they have had a case without using their personal pages?
