LRN Apps Disappear from App Stores :: Call to Freedom Changes :: New FTL Affiliate in OK

June 30th, 2019 - 12:59pm by FTL_Admin in

Easy come, easy go. Some listeners noticed the LRN.FM & FTL listening app is no longer available on either iOS or Android. I have reached out to the app people to find out what happened, but it's ultimately not really a big loss. While some people liked the app, others reported it was buggy with memory leaks at one point. I'm guessing they just decided our small audience wasn't worth the trouble of updating the app anymore. The company that had made the app for us is the same one that handles our telephone listen lines and they had offered to do it for free, which allowed them to sell ads in-app.

If you still have the app, it still works. I'll update you via email if it gets relisted, but for now, if you need an app with which to listen to the FTL 24/7 streams or the LRN.FM streams, please try TuneIn. TuneIn is available in your App or Play store and has been around for a very long time. Both FTL and LRN.FM's streams are available there. Plus our streams will work on...

I'm posting an occasional photo to social media, if you care to follow them, here they are: Twitter , Mastodon .

Free Talk Live Named 26th Most Important Talk Show in America on TALKERS' "Heavy Hundred" 2019

June 8th, 2019 - 6:35pm by FTL_Admin in

Each year, TALKERS Magazine releases their " Heavy Hundred " list of the top 100 most important talk shows in America, according to the staff at TALKERS - the longtime, respected talk media industry publication. Since 2009, when we first appeared at the bottom of the list, we've moved up the chart, year-after-year. It's once again an honor, after eleven years on the list, to have acheived the rank of #26 for 2019. That moves us up from our #27 slot from 2018 and puts us at the very top of the second page . Thank you to Michael Harrison, Kevin Casey, and the rest of the crew at TALKERS for the recognition.

Of course, we couldn't have gotten to where we are without the support of our listeners who have contributed directly to our radio success by...

Successful “Bitcoin Pizza Day” in Crypto Mecca – 2019

May 23rd, 2019 - 3:57am by FTL_Ian in

For the third year in a row, local cryptocurrency users in the Crypto Mecca of Keene, NH gathered at local crypto-accepting pizza joint, “Little Zoe’s” to celebrate Bitcoin Pizza Day. The annual celebration, set on May 22nd, commemorates what is regarded as the first real-life cryptocurrency purchase in 2010, when Laszlo Hanyecz purchased two pizzas for 10,000 Bitcoin (BTC). This year, the holiday was covered by 60 Minutes .

In Keene, a bunch of people gathered from as far as Amherst, MA and Brattleboro, VT to celebrate with delicious pies from Little Zoe’s Pizza in Keene, NH where for years owners Ed and Melanie Forster have offered take-and-bake pies of excellent quality. This year, Little Zoe’s acquired an oven for their store and are now offering their pizzas hot,...
