Walmart's New Health Care Policy Shifts Burden To Medicaid, Obamacare: Walmart, the nation’s largest private employer, plans to begin denying health insurance to newly hired employees who work fewer than 30 hours a week, according to a copy of the company’s policy obtained by The Huffington Post. Under the policy, slated to take effect in January, Walmart also reserves the right to eliminate health care coverage for certain workers if their average workweek dips below 30 hours -- something that happens with regularity and at the direction of company managers.

The Problem With Taxing Cigarettes: Everyone Lives Longer!

If ever there was something that worked too well, the cigarette tax might be it. A new study published by the Congressional Budget Office shows that any additional money the state obtains by raising cigarette taxes will eventually be outweighed by the increased use of entitlement programs such as Medicare or Social Security. In other words, a healthier population lives longer and uses more of the government's money.

Euro 'Is A Bloody Doomsday Machine,' Economics Professor Says

The unthinkable suddenly looks possible. Bankers, governments and investors are preparing for Greece to stop using the euro as its currency, a move that could spread turmoil throughout the global financial system. The worst case envisions governments defaulting on their debts, a run on European banks and a worldwide credit crunch reminiscent of the financial crisis in the fall of 2008. A Greek election on Sunday will determine whether it happens. Syriza, a party opposed to the restrictions placed on Greece in exchange for a bailout from European neighbors, could do well.
