They've been talking about this since OBDII came out in '96. The original purpose would have been to check the vehicle's emissions "Ready Status" (from roadside transponders, and if the car had failed, it could be flagged, a notice sent to the owner, and in the event of noncompliance, the car could be remotely disabled.Read more »
