Multiple witnesses say an officer investigating drugs grabbed Anderson from behind, hoisted him into the air and slammed him down on the pavement, leaving him unresponsive. “They even got to the point they was trying to tell him to get up and they was kicking him. He never moved,” said a witness. The official cause of death: massive internal bleeding from blunt force injuries, including a ruptured spleen and multiple fractured ribs. The Lake County Sheriff's Office was justified in shooting Andrew Lee Scott, the state attorney's office said Tuesday. Scott died in July after deputies opened fire when the 26-year-old answered a knock on his door in the middle of the night with a gun in his hand.Read more »
The shooting happened Wednesday night at a home on 10th Street in Altavista. Delma Towler was shot while attempting to walk to her sister's house. She was apparently trying to get away from what she thought was an intruder, trying to break into her house. Six Fullerton, California, police officers were placed on involuntary administrative leave as the FBI and Orange County District Attorney investigate the death of a homeless man who was in police custody, authorities said Wednesday.The decision by Police Chief Michael Sellers came just hours before a contentious Fullerton City Council meeting Tuesday evening. More than 100 residents spent three hours at the meeting expressing outrage about the death of Kelly Thomas, who sustained serious injuries during the July 5 arrest by the officers, a police spokesman said.Read more »
Alvarado fired his weapon, killing an unarmed 14-year-old boy.
The November incident was not the first time the officer had ignored an order, according to records recently obtained by the San Antonio Express-News.
Alvarado was suspended at least four times, and his supervisors warned of impending termination four times — once even recommending it.
But Alvarado, 46, never was fired. Six months after the death of student Derek Lopez, as an investigation into the shooting continues, the 17-year veteran of the Police Department remains with the school district.
On August 30, Seattle Police Ofc. Ian Burk murdered John T. Williams for holding a legally-sized whittling knife. Williams was a half-deaf Native American woodcarver who was also wearing headphones at the time. Birk claimed Williams refused to drop the legally-sized knife and approached him, but just-released autopsy results show Williams was in fact walking away from his executioner at the time he was shot.
