Ocean City, MD is a town with alot of skateboarders that hosts the largest Mountain 'Dew Tour' Skateboarding event of the year. However try to skateboard or rollerblade to the event and you will be ticketed and fined by a 1972 ordinance. The Passenger Vessel Services Act of 1886 (PVSA) effectively bars cruise ships from sailing between American cities. The PVSA forces cruiseships going from one US city to another to either stop at what is called a "far foreign port" (ie., outside of North America), or to stop at a foreign port within North America before returning to the American port of embarkation. A Connecticut woman found herself stuck in traffic on her way to the delivery room, thanks to a Plainville PD DUI checkpoint. When Mrs. Hairston began going into labor, officers attempted to call for an ambulance, but were advised that help was 10 minutes away at least--a result of the delay that they themselves had created.
