A state bill aiming to give residents limited rights to resist police officers who enter their homes illegally was passed by the Indiana House of Representatives on Thursday with several amendments.
The bill is a direct response to the Indiana Supreme Court decision in Barnes v. State of Indiana.
The state’s highest court ruled that a citizen never has the right to resist an officer in pursuit of an investigation. But state lawmakers disagree.

But he also wondered if his cause was being treated fairly. “There have been a lot of fund-raisers for the officers,” he said. “Are they requiring a permit for that too?” On the website, the family has posted stories outlining a disparity in resources between those fighting for the death penalty for their son and those working for his defense.Read more »
The self-styled super hero ran in to break up a fight between a small group and a large group. He used pepper spray to fend off the fighters after he was attacked. He's been charged with four counts of assault.

Phoenix Jones aka Benjamin Fodor aka mixed-martial arts fighter "Flatttop" arrested early Sunday for assault. The City Attorney's Office is reviewing the case. Police say Fodor, 23, used pepper spray on a group of men and women early Sunday near the Alaskan Way Viaduct. The incident was caught on video. A spokesman for Phoenix Jones, said it appears the officer who arrested Jones had an agenda, and that when Jones said he was assaulted the officer laughed at him.
