CAW president Ken Lewenza said Monday he will join thousands of American union activists protesting outside the Michigan state legislature Tuesday (Dec. 11) over Republican efforts to ram through right-to-work legislation. “An attack on workers, regardless of any border, is an attack on the labour movement in general,” said Lewenza. “I think it’s incredibly important to let our friends in Michigan know they have the support of workers in Canada.”

Reality check regarding Hostess bankruptcy

Hostess has been sold at least three times since the 1980s, racking up debt and shedding profitable assets along the way with each successive merger. The company filed for bankruptcy in 2004, and again in 2011. Little thought was given to the line of products, which, frankly, began to seem a bit dated in the age of the gourmet cupcake.

Police Unions Sicking Private Eyes, Cops On those Who Oppose Them

Councilman Jim Righeimer of Costa Mesa was targeted for harassment by private eye employed by Police Union lawyers. The private dick called police claiming Jim Righeimer was drunk when he was not. The cops then went to his house and made him do a sobriety test after he had been home for some time.

Back in the good old days, 1917 to be exact. America was the land of the free, especially out West, where government was light and people lived on a voluntary basis. When workers got fed up with poor conditions and lousy pay for dangerous work, they would strike. The bosses would be forced to listen, or maybe they'd just hire new workers. The Bisbee Deportation was just an aberration and not a sign of the times. Right?

Hoffa made headlines on Labor Day with comments calling union members part of President Obama’s electoral “army” who will “beat the Tea Party and give this country back to workers and America.”
“Let’s take these sons-of-bitches out,” Hoffa said during comments ahead of Obama’s appearance at a rally in Detriot, urging union members to vote out conservative politicians in 2012.
