A guy in NYC filmed himself getting a $50 ticket for not riding his bike in the bike lane. The cop doesn't even get out of the car in the rain, dodges all his questions, and refuses to acknowledge that SOMETIMES, in the ridiculously busy streets of NYC, the bike lane is not necessarily the safest place to be riding your bicycle. The video humorously shows all the ridiculous things obstructing some of the bike lanes, including a cop car.Read more »

Some of you may have seen that video of the NYPD arresting a man for heckling a cyclist as he got a ticket and decided to meekly keep your mouth shut when witnessing police action. Not Barbara Ross, a Time's Up! volunteer and self-professed "frequent user and fan of 2nd and 1st avenue downtown bike lane." The original purpose would have been to check the vehicle's emissions "Ready Status" (from roadside transponders, and if the car had failed, it could be flagged, a notice sent to the owner, and in the event of noncompliance, the car could be remotely disabled.Read more »
