LA County Sets the Price of a Paper Bag, Bans Plastic Bags

A sweeping ban on plastic grocery bags will go into effect July 1 for unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County. The bag ban was touted by county supervisors as an environmental measure to rid the county of "urban tumbleweed" that pollutes landfills and gets washed out to sea. Paper bags will still be available, but customers will be charged 10 cents per bag. Beginning July 1, 67 large supermarkets and pharmacies must stop providing disposable plastic bags. By January 2012, the ban will cover about 1,000 smaller stores.

A Central Precinct officer Thursday morning mistakenly fired five live shotgun rounds at a man refusing to follow police orders, when he intended to fire bean bags, Portland police announced about seven hours after the incident.

A 15-year bureau veteran was placed on administrative leave in connection with the first mistaken shooting involving live rounds loaded into a less-lethal bean-bag shotgun in the bureau's history. The bureau began carrying the less-lethal shotguns in the mid-1990s.

Dayton Cops Tazer Mentally Challenged Teen

DAYTON, Ohio (CN) - Dayton police "mistook" a mentally handicapped teenager's speech impediment for "disrespect," so they Tasered, pepper-sprayed and beat him and called for backup from "upward of 20 police officers" after the boy rode his bicycle home to ask his mother for help, the boy's mom says. Google Hands Over User Data For 94% Of U.S. Law Enforcement Requests

Google only gave the Brazilian government information in 76% of the 1,804 cases in which the country requested it, and for only 72% of the U.K.’s 1,162 requests. It took an even stronger line against countries like Poland, Hungary and Turkey, giving over data in only 33 times out of the 272 in which Poland requested it, and in none of the 45 Turkish or 68 Hungarian requests.

Anonymous Launches A WikiLeaks For Hackers: HackerLeaks

Earlier this week members of the hacker collective, and specifically a sub-group known as the People’s Liberation Front, (PLF) launched two new leaking sites, LocalLeaks.tk (not to be confused with the similarly named Localeaks.com) and HackerLeaks.tk. Both hope to receive documents through an anonymous submissions channel, analyze them, and then distribute them to the press to get “maximum exposure and political impact.”

The Jury is out after 2 long days of trial; the second day running all the way to 10PM on Thursday June 30th. John Kurtz has been convicted of resisting arrest without violence. John’s sentence, 30 days in a concrete cage, 7 days already served and 1 year probation.

The evidence … the cops word … several cops on the stand all with different stories .. each having changed their tune several times throughout the whole process.

Around the 00:52 mark you'll see a man with his hands up yell "I ain't do nothing" before being cursed at and then punched, kicked and beat with clubs by a group of uniformed officers.
