The problem with these checkpoints is that they're warrantless, arbitrary searches. This goes against all standards of civilized behavior and is not tolerable in a free society. Not only are checkpoints violating our rights they're not effective. CU-Boulder students arrested on 4/20 to fight charges on First Amendment grounds. Peacefully exercising their right to assemble, and freedom of speech on the grass of their own public university; these three honest students were taken to county jail. The students pleaded not guilty, and plan to file motion to dismiss. It may, and will go to a jury trial if need be.Read more »

Today, the news was that a Judge in New Jersey upheld the ACLU’s injunction against “TRU ID”, the New Jersey version of REAL ID.
