They just kind of gloss over the whole paddling thing in this story. That is so weird. I didnt know schools did that. I guess the principle saw girls in skimpy dresses and paddled them. That is so fucked up.

Paddled????

I just can't even imagine how that situation goes down...what do they do, put them over their knees or ask them to bend over? I'm shocked this still goes on today, very very disappointing. Kudos on the girl for taking the suspension, why take a paddling when you can take a vacation?

And cute dress. :)

WTF

I would not have been allowed to go to my prom by their dress codes and I went to prom decades ago. That dress was cute if it violated the codes it was only by a the smallest of margins. I agree with the Mother if it had been out of line the parent would never had paid for the dress. And also what the hell paddling for teens that are just one year from being considered adults. This school has failed to make their case or have a reasonable response to violating the rules. It is devastating enough to a female to simple not be allowed to attend their senior prom. Yet they want to add more on top of that.

18-year-olds are not considered adults

The 4-year University tradition extends the popularly accepted age of "adulthood" to 24 (as a college student, I can tell you we are treated like children), and the Healthcare Bill is extending it to 26. Some people may SAY that you turn into an adult on your 18th birthday, but all that means is "you're now allowed to vote and have sex."
