Church of Scientology

Posted April 5th, 2011 by islandlady

I was on your segment on Scientology on Saturday but we didn't get off to the best foot.

I think Jason did a very good job of handling several of your questions but I think that there are definitely some things that were brought up on the show about Scientology that I would like to clarify.

A few of the other things that were brought up but not addressed were:

Is Scientology litigious
Is the Church buying up all of Tampa
Confusion on thetans
Who is the God of Scientology
What happens when you die
Do you know about the humanitarian programs that the Church is involved in

Could we start from Square Zero?

Hi Guys: I have been doing my homework about Fresh Talk Live and your basic philosophy. I see that you are interested in less government so you aren't very happy with the way things are being run. Good. We can certainly agree with each other on that. How is this for a summation of our current scene?: "Today we have government by special interest. It ignores to a huge degree what the average citizen really wants. This winds up usually in some weird, special-interest-utopia mess like the book George Orwell's 1984. The number of utopia planners around would amaze you. The average individual shuns utopias like the plague. One has to go to the individual member and go to many individuals in many strata of society to find out what's really wanted. It's usually pretty simple." This is from a letter L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology wrote in 1969. Hubbard didn't agree with the way the direction the West was moving in either. As he said: "The West was made by free men. It is being unmade by tyranny. At the hand of most government leaders today are social or economic agencies which seek to impose unsound and unproven controls upon a formerly free society." You will find that quite a few Scientologists will listen to your shows because they share some of the Libertarian views you discuss in your programs. I wanted to share that with you so we can keep in mind that there may be more we agree on that disagree on. What I personally enjoy is the freedom to speak and hold discussions with a healthy dose of skepticism but at the same time open to the possibility that I may not know everything and can learn. Are you?
