In a recent article at Free Keene, I went over a bunch of our decentralized and polycentric, self-hosted alternatives to Big Tech social media. If you didn't read it and you're interested in what alternatives are available, you should take a few minutes and check it out.
In the article, Telegram got an honorable mention for being the best of the centralized communications options out there. We've been using it between activists in the Keene area for most of the last decade and over the past few years we've been posting our show prep to our Telegram channel. Recently, Telegram upgraded its channels - which are a one-way communication method - to allow channel owners to create and associate an open discussion group that is linked to the official channel. Nobody suggested we should add this feature, so I did. So now you will see an option to discuss or comment on each of the show prep items we post to the FTL Telegram channel. Enjoy! By the way, Nobody is in charge of it.
Also, if you haven't signed up for the new "FTL Social" Mastodon instance to replace Twitter, you should check it out at social.freetalklive.com. We already have over 120 users and it hasn't even been online for a full week. Don't forget the variety of cool mobile and desktop apps available for it as well - that's because Mastodon is open source, so anyone can make an app!
Thank you for listening to Free Talk Live and helping us undermine and escape Big Tech and the evil state.
